
Native American Hopi Painted Wooden Hoe "Corn & Rain" - Wilson Tasaquaptewa (1871-1960) Born of the bear clan in Hopi village of Oraibi, Third Mesa,Arizona,Tasquapttewa was village chief 1904-1960. His kachinas are recognized world-wide, known for their eccentric originality. The use of this motif on a corn hoe, corn having a central place in Hopi life, is unusual and possibly unique. A crack in the piece has been repaired.
